A school of magic is a group of related spells that work in similar ways. | Fudge SRD Spell resistance (SR) is the ability to avoid being affected by spells and spell-like abilities, much like an Armor Class against magical attacks. You cast these spells on creatures or objects, as defined in the spell’s description. This section lays out the process of casting a spell, details how to counter and combine magical effects, describes how special abilities work, defines each mechanical element listed in a spell description, and includes those spell descriptions. A number of creatures and characters with a variety of classes gain the use of special abilities. The only difference is that instead of counting from the center of one square to the center of the next, you count from intersection to intersection. In addition, the target can’t gain any special ability that allows it to summon or otherwise spawn other creatures. However, damage from multiple spells that deal damage is always cumulative. A special ability is either a spell-Like ability, a Supernatural ability, or an Extraordinary ability. Several other general rules apply when spells or magical effects operate in the same place.
